A subluxation is a minor misalignment of the spine causing nerve interference. Your body communicates from the brain through the spinal cord, spinal nerves and peripheral nervous system. Your body communicates back to the brain through your nervous system. Your nerves are like wires but much more delicate. They are protected by the skull and vertebrae of your spine. The spine most allow movement so you can move but protect the delicate nerves. Abnormal stresses can cause your vertebrae to become misaligned causing nerve interference. Spinal joints and nerves that are stressed cause pain, muscle imbalance, and nerve interference to the tissue and organs they supply. Each vertebrae causes certain pain patterns called sclerotome pain, muscles cause certain pain patterns and tingling as seen on trigger point charts and nerves cause certain problems according to what tissues and organs they supply as seen on a nerve chart. C1 is the first vertebrae of your spine under the skull. It is round in shape. It is one of the most important vertebrae because in effects the balance of your autonomic nervous system by reducing the para sympathetic effect on your body. This is the system that helps relax the nervous system so to say. It helps calm your body down. A properly adjusted C1 “Atlas” is key to a properly balanced nervous system and homeostatic state of the body.
Areas and Parts of the Body of C1 Vertebrae:
Blood supply to the head, pituitary gland, scalp, bones of the face, brain, inner and middle ear, sympathetic nervous system
Possible Symptoms of C1
Headaches, nervousness, insomnia, head cold, high blood pressure, migraine headaches, nervous breakdowns, amnesia, chronic tiredness, dizziness
Trigger Point Distribution:
Pain Patterns (Sclerotome Pain):
