When Does the First Subluxation Happen? It May Be at Birth

Back To Life Chiropractic

When most people think about spinal problems,
they think about car accidents, sports injuries,
or something that happens later in life.

But what many don’t realize
is that the very first spinal stress
often happens at birth.

Childbirth is one of the most physically demanding events
the human body will ever go through —
for both the mother and the baby.

During delivery, especially difficult or assisted births,
a baby’s spine and nervous system
can be exposed to significant pressure and torque.

Forceps, vacuum extraction, prolonged labor,
or even a fast delivery
can place stress on the delicate neck and spine.

This stress can lead to what chiropractors call a subluxation
a misalignment or dysfunction in the spine
that interferes with the nervous system.

The nervous system controls everything in the body —
breathing, digestion, immune response,
and development.

When that communication is disrupted early,
the body may adapt in ways
that don’t always show immediate symptoms.

That’s why many children don’t appear injured,
yet may struggle later with colic, reflux,
poor sleep, ear infections,
or developmental challenges.

Chiropractic care for infants is gentle,
specific, and focused on supporting
the nervous system during critical stages of growth.

By addressing spinal stress early,
we’re not chasing symptoms —
we’re supporting healthy development
from the very beginning.

Because health doesn’t start
when problems show up.

Health starts at birth.
